YES!! I completed yet another layout today! Oh, it feels so good to do something creative….it totally takes my mind off of life and waiting and worries.
I thought I would also share two digital scrapbooking tips with you for Works for Me Wednesday along with sharing my newest layout.
1. Don’t be afraid to use templates!! My biggest struggle with scrapbooking, especially when I’m beginning again after a lull or this just often happens when I’m starting a new page is knowing exactly how to place everything so it is pleasing. Using templates, also sometimes called quick-clicks, really helps with this. They are a huge time saver as you don’t have to agonize over this struggle and can just begin scrappin’! And I think that after you start using them, you will begin to get a feel for how to lay out a page on your own. There are lots of free templates out there, too!! For the page I worked on today, I used the free template from the Tuesday Template Challenge at Scrapmatters. Oh…one more great thing about templates is that they can be completely personalized and changed around….you don’t have to stick to the original design.
2. If you’re going to post your layout anywhere…on your blog, in an online gallery, etc. you have to credit the designers of the kit and/or elements that you used in creating it. That means that you have to remember or keep track of this information in some way. I use Photoshop Elements 6 to do my scrapbooking and type this information directly into the file. I do this by going to file>file info…. There is a place in the screen that comes up to put the layout’s title and I put all the credit information (kit name, designer name, fonts used, etc) in the caption section. There are many other ways to keep track of this information, but this is what has worked best for me.

Journaling reads: One of my favorite crafts that the kids and I did this year at Easter was painting Easter eggs with watercolors. I drew oval egg shapes on scratch paper and handed them over to Elizabeth Anne, Mary Catherine, and Will to paint. They had the best time! This activity took up two afternoons after nap time. The girls helped cut the eggs out and we hung them on the window sill to display during the Easter season.

Love the layout! And it looks like you all had fun, too.
I’m a scrapper, too. I am (slowly) branching from traditional to digital using Creative Memories software. But I can’t give up all my traditional tools– I like cropping both ways!
Thanks for sharing!

Great new layout. I don’t really use scrapbooky stuff in my themes, but I do use the paper sometimes for headers. 🙂 Like the one I have up now.
