All About Me

by Monica on July 18, 2008

Crystal at Life at the Circus tagged me for this meme a little over a week ago and this seemed like the best time to respond.

I know, you just can’t wait to read all about me, right, so here goes…

1. What was I doing ten years ago?

Ten years ago would have been the summer of 1998. I was working for the Dean of Students office of my alma matter, Converse College and preparing for my senior year. I worked for the Dean of Students every year during college. I LOVED my college years so much that I didn’t want to leave. I was given free housing for working on campus and go to stay in the area and attend a wonderful church. My job entailed fun stuff like putting together the Student Handbook, sending out newsletters to new and returning students, pairing freshman roommates, updating student databases, and various other office responsibilities.

2. What are (were) 5 things on my to-do list for today?

a. Organize toys
They were SERIOUSLY getting out of hand!! While the kids were in respite care, I went through almost every toy in this house and either threw it away (mainly just junk toys accumulated through happy meals and such), boxed it up for the next baby, or put it in the proper place. This made me VERY HAPPY! Too bad it won’t last.

b.  Mail package to husband

c. Laundry
This shouldn’t count…it’s ALWAYS on my to-do list. I should just let EA do it again.

d. Work on some craft projects
Haven’t started them yet, but I did buy some supplied that I needed. I’ll post pictures when they’re done.

e. Paint my nails
Ha, Ha…This has been on my to-do list for so long now, I’m almost at the point of giving up!

3.  Snacks I enjoy

If it’s a snack, I enjoy it! I could so make myself sick on chips and dip (my favorite is flour tortillas with cheesy con queso dip).

4. Things I would do if I were a billionaire. In no particular order

*put away for the children’s college education

*buy a house….it would be a DREAM to have a real house after living in an apartment setting. Even if we couldn’t live in it because of Army moves, just to have one would be nicer than nice.

*hire a decorator for new house

*hire a housekeeper

*buy a private jet to take us back to the states for a visit and shopping spree

*by my husband a “pout house” to fill with comic books

*give to the March of Dimes

5. Places I have lived:

a. Andrews, SC
b. Spartanburg, SC
c. Laurens, SC
d. Columbia, SC
e.  Union, SC
f. Simpsonville, SC
g. Ft. Campbell, KY
h. Germany

Can you guess at which time my husband became an Army Chaplain?? And even before then you can really see that the life of anyone in the ministry requires lots of moving.

6.  Jobs I have had:

a. babysitting
Through high school, college, and beyond. I actually had a babysitting jobs until I became pregnant with the girls.

b. cashier at the Piggly Wiggly
I did this through high school and really had lots of fun with it. I was even featured in the Pig’s Pride newspaper a couple of times and won Employee of the Month twice. I came home with so many stories!!

c. student worker in Dean of Student’s office at Converse
see number one

d. Community Advisor in college residence hall
I did this sophomore through senior year in Freshman residence halls and it was SO MUCH FUN!! I had some of the sweetest girls ever living on my hall.

e. Blockbuster
didn’t last long

f. Christian Supply bookstore
didn’t last long

–there was one time in college that I was working three jobs at once….I don’t recommend it!

g. Special Education teacher
I taught for six years…up  until I had the girls. Five of those years it was in the same classroom…a middle school self-contained class. I was so proud of being voted Teacher of the Year 2002-2003 school year. But near the end I was getting burned out and at the moment I don’t have a desire to teach anyone except my own children.

h. associate at Ann Taylor
I basically only did  that long enough to pay for the clothes I bought while working there…still love the clothes though. I just wish I could fit into them again.
