Yesterday was a very special day for our family.
It was my first day back to church since Jenny was born.
Thus, it was also Jenny’s first day in church and was also Will’s first time attending “big church†with the family.
We believe that it is our responsibility as parents to train our children to love God and to worship Him. Thus, it is important to us that our children attend church with the family.
EA and MC started attending “big church†with us when they were three years old.
It took a bit of training, but now they sit very nicely and enjoy worship. They learn so much by participating in worship and being a part of the church family.
Since Will turned three just a few days before Jenny was born, this Sunday was his first time in church with us.
We also had Jenny’s Baby Dedication service in our chapel service yesterday morning.
We all went up to the front of the church to commit to raising Jenny to know and love God.
Our church family also committed to supporting us in raising, teaching, and training Jenny to follow Christ.
And then we all joined the chaplain in praying over Jenny.
Chaplain Gibilisco said that he was struck during his prayer by knowing that this little one he was praying over could be anything…the next president even. I appreciated him mentioning her growing up to be a mother in his prayer. Because in many ways, all I want for my little girls is for them to grow up to be a godly wife, mother, completely content with the role that God has called them to in their homes.
Jenny was so good during the entire service.
I was a little nervous about it…especially since she cried/fussed her way through the AWANA awards ceremony for the girls and Will last week.
But she was good as gold yesterday morning.
She slept peacefully and quietly in her carrier during the first part of the service. I took her out and snuggled her just a bit right before we went up for her dedication and then snuggled her a bit more before placing her back in the carrier.
After the chapel service we all went up to get a good picture with the chaplain that did Jenny’s dedication and we were also able to get a family picture.
I am so thankful for Keith’s new battalion commander who offered to take pictures of us. It was like having our own family photographer right there with us, or maybe even our own paparazzi. It made the day a little more enjoyable knowing that our memories of the day were being captured.
Here is our newest family picture….
I am so blessed beyond measure!
