Wow…can you beleve that it’s October already!! The weather is starting to get cooler here and Fall is definitely in the air. This is going to be a super busy month for us, but it will be a fun one, too. I am looking forward to all that the Fall season holds for our family.
In case you missed it, we’ve been at a conference for chaplains at Edelweiss Resort in Germish, Germany this week. While we were here, Keith’s sister’s family and his parents were also here visiting. It was great to spend time with all of them and do some sight-seeing together. We saw the theater where the original Passion play is held every ten years (the next performance is this upcoming year), we toured Linderhof Castle, and Keith and I went to a formal Dining Out with the other chaplains and their spouses.
During some of our off time when Keith was in classes I was able to do some blog reading and found some really great “favorites” for you for this week!
Crafting & Photography:
Scrapmatters has a hybrid tutorial for Creating a Mini Album from Scratch. These would make great gifts or albums to keep in your purse.
My kids love doing art and I like the convenience of having it organized so that it can be easily pulled out. The Homeschool Classroom has a post listing What’s in a Well Stocked Art Kit.
I enjoy decorating my desktop with personal pictures and a calendar. Here’s an October Desktop Freebie from GirlTalk that you can download and just plop your picture in to for a fun desktop picture.
Digital Photography for Moms gave a great lesson in how to choose from the different file format options in Photoshop and PSE. Check out JPEG, GIF, PNG, PSD, TIFF, KWIM? I’m saving it as a reference.
Yummy Food and Recipes:
These White Chocolate Ghost Suckers from Roots and Wings Co. are extremely cute and the instructions for making them look easy to follow….great idea for Halloween treats!
I cannot wait to try Bakerella’s newest creation…Pumpkin Bites! I just started enjoying pumpkin pies and such last year and this is a bit sized version of that, but much much cuter!
Oooh…here’s another yummy pumpkin dessert! Pumpkin Pie Swirled Brownie Tart…I think my husband would even like this one.
I admire people that can make beautiful salads. Make and Takes offers some instruction in Creating a Good Green Salad that will be my new guide.
Homemaking:
I currently use 6 out of the 11 Great Digital Tools for Home Life listed by Simple Mom. Several are on my list to check out now, though. How many are you using?
The Nesting Place just started a new series called 31 Days to a Better Dressed Nest. You can bet I’ll be checking in each day on this one!
Mandi at Organizing Your Way has some excellent Home Management Notebook Printables for you.
Blogging & Social Media:
Do you have a hard time finding and/or making the time to blog? I do! How to Make My Blog has a great post listing 8 Tips to Optimize Your Time for Blog Writing.
Homeschooling:
Many homeschoolers, including myself, struggle with Keeping Toddlers Busy While Homeschooling their older siblings. Melissa from HopeSprouts shares some great ideas for doing this at the Homeschool Classroom.
If you’re looking for some Fun, Easy and Inexpensive Ways to Promote Literacy with Your Preschooler visit this post by Little Stamp at Homeschool Bliss. There really are some great, simple ideas there!
And if you need some Homeschool Help with Managing Multiple Schedules, Connie from Smockity Frocks has some great ideas that she uses listed in a guest post at Life as Mom.
Inspirational:
This post on Apologizing to a Friend by Life Spy really hit home this week. Do you have someone you need to apologize to?
The guest post on Teaching Kids to Pray at Impress Your Kids this week really gave me some things to think about. We pray each night with our children, but I desire for it to be more authentic. What do you do to teach your kids to pray?
Are you ever intimidated by other women? I can admit to being so in certain social situations. Holley Gerth Has a Confession about this very thing and how we need to stand tall for Christ together at (In)Courage this week.
I hope you enjoy browsing through these posts this week. They were all very inspirational, informative, and helpful to me. I love that I get to share my favorites with you each week!
Remember that Friday Favorites is now being co-hosted by Liz at Hoosier Homemade and the linky sign-up is at her blog this week. We would love for you to share your own favorites with us this week! I can’t wait to read them.
Have a great weekend!!
