“From Head to Toe” Paper Bag Album

I recently read the Eric Carle book, “From Head to Toe” with the girls.

They really enjoyed it…I think we actually read it everyday for a few weeks.

As we read the book, the girls and I (and even Will) acted out the motions of the animals.

And I was hit with a great idea for a craft project!!! I just love it when that happens!

I took pictures of the children doing the actions described in the book and found images of the animals in the book in similar positions that the book describes.

I extracted all of these images and placed them on a background paper.

Then I used these to create a paper bag album for their daddy and sent it to him downrange.

I love to surprise Keith with craft projects featuring myself of the kids. I was so excited about this one that I hinted around about the coming surprise the whole time I was working on it.

I couldn’t wait for him to receive his package in the mail.

And to share it with you.

So…here are each of the finished pages and a picture of the album as a whole. I’d love to hear what you think!!!

Oh, and here’s a great tutorial for making paper bag albums. You can use them for a lot of really neat projects! And, like with any other craft project, you can make them as simple or elaborate as you like. The one I did was pretty simple.

I have to comment on the last 3 posts at one time.

First – the worship service – You go! I would not have the courage to do what you did whether I knew the songs or not. And I agree with you that hymns and praise music can co-exist, but I do LOVE hymns.

Second – the menu looks good. I like the weeks when I realize that my grocery list is short.

Third – L LOVE the book. What a great idea. M has a birthday coming up and that might just be an idea for his gift (if I can get my act together). I’ll have to improvise on the pages though because paper bags don’t seem to exist here. Thank you for sharing your project.

so cute – I love that book too. I wonder where my copy is. It will be something they will all cherish as they get older and you can make more copies so easily – what a great idea.

Great extractions BTW.

I LOVE this and can’t wait to do something like this with Olivia Grace. She is so into crafts but I have done or adapted everyone I do at school for her. We are tired of the same old ones…this one will be great to do. Thanks!!!

How cool is that idea! I’m sure your husband was really touched by the effort you put in and adore seeing his beautiful children in action! What a great project!
