I gave up making New Year’s resolutions a long time ago in favor of setting goals. Goals can be set, reviewed, revised, and accomplished at any time of the year. The beginning of a new year marks an excellent time to set new goals to be worked on.
Last year was an amazing one for our family….I cannot believe just how much has happened.
Just to name a few, in 2009, we welcomed my husband home from Iraq, took a small family vacation to LegoLand, found out that we’re expecting our fourth child, and moved back to the United States from Germany.
Already, I know that 2010 holds to much in store for our family. I have so much to be excited about as we settle down into our new home in Virginia and prepare to welcome our new addition this summer.
I don’t want this new year to pass me by, but I want to cherish every moment and grow abundantly as God works in our lives.
I am dividing up my goads for 2010 into a few categories….
as a Child of God
- Read through the Bible in 90 days
- And then find a new Bible reading plan to implement as I
- Establish and maintain a consistent devotional and prayer time
as the Wife of an Army Chaplain
- Commit to pray for my husband and his own goals and even struggles
- Seek to be a better listener and encourager
- Find ways to support Keith in his new ministry at Ft. Lee
as a Homeschooling Stay at Home Mother of Three
- Seek to disciple and discipline my children with love and respect
- Find a homeschool schedule and routine that will work and implement that
- Do more preschool activities with my youngest
- Potty-train my youngest (I may need extra prayer in this one!)
as a Homemaker
- Create a workable home-management binder
- Implement a working cleaning schedule for our new home
as a Blogger
- Know my priorities (blogging does not come first, family does)
- Be authentic in my writing
- Build a community with my readers
- Have a blast and learn lots at Blissdom ’10
and Personally
- Spend more time on two hobbies that I love but get neglected…digital scrapbooking and reading
- Implement an exercise routine
Have you set goals for the new year? I would love to hear all about them!
You can tell me about them in the comments or by linking to a post of your own. And maybe we can support and encourage each other to achieve our goals.

I believe in setting goals as opposed to resolutions too…. and have been doing that for a number of years now…. I never liked the negative connotation that resolutions have…. I’d rather strive for goals I’ve set for myself.
I haven’t finished my goals for this year yet…. that will be my weekend project… but I have started… this is what I have so far:
Personal Goals
Regain my health again completely… eat right … and continue exercising regularly
Set aside a regular “me time” out of my day…. to nourish my soul and mind… have quiet time for prayer and reflection…
Professionally
Find satisfying work that I will love
Blogger
Continue to develop my blog by expanding it with some new subjects
Change static information more regularly
Finish my “Print Recipe” project
Complete the coding for a navigation bar so I can link to more information
Limit the time I spend working on the blog… so it doesn’t take away from family time
And I like your topic “As a Child of God” and will add it to mine…
As a Child of God
Find a way of putting my traffic on the web to good use…to raise hunger awareness ….and what I and others can do to help….no one should ever be hungry…
Happy New Year and I’m really glad you did this post… thank you!

Hi Monica!
I enjoy reading your site and am excited that you are back in the states! Too bad you’re all the way in VA!
I am glad YOU are enjoying the snow!lol After a while, some folks like me from the Northern states start experiencing a little bit of cabin fever!
Did it not snow much in Germany?
I had contacted you a while back about God possibly leading my hubby to become an Army chaplain. Well, we thought it was a settled “NO” 6 months ago, but now it seems like the verdict really isn’t in yet!
Still seeking God’s direction!
Have a great weekend!
