IHOP and Sonic Treats

by Monica on April 21, 2010

We don’t go out to eat a ton in our family. Most meals are made at home by yours truly.

But we do enjoy taking the kids out on occasion.

It’s a treat for them…and for us.

And we’ve found that we can teach some valuable lessons while dining out.

Last week, we planned a trip to IHOP for dinner. The kids have never been to an IHOP restaurant. In fact, I don’t think they’ve ever been to a restaurant that serves breakfast all day. And through the month of April, IHOP is offing a kids eat free deal from 4-10 pm.

They enjoyed their first taste of chocolate chip pancakes with happy faces!

Since moving back to the states from Germany, I have a new love for Sonic Drive-in Restaurants.

My favorite thing on their menu are the real fruit strawberry slushes…yumm!!!

I introduced these treats to EA, MC, and Will and they are in total agreement with me!

Yesterday they all were excellent during my eye appointment and accompanying shopping trip for new eye glasses, so I wanted to treat them to something special.

We just happened to be driving by a Sonic during Happy Hour when they offer 1/2 price on all of their drinks and slushes.

And voila! Everyone was rewarded with the perfect treat for a nice day out with mommy!

What are some of your favorite restaurants to take your kids to?

I love Sonic slushes!
But I tend to get Cherry Limeades from there, because I love their crushed ice more! :)

I was really surprised with Austin when we went home. He’s my picky eater, but we went to my favorite hole in the wall Chinese restaurant several times, and he loved sharing my hot & sour soup.

I bet they enjoyed their smiley face pancakes.
And I think Sonic is the perfect treat to behaving well through errands & appointments! Send some our way! ;)

Sweet pics!

I can’t wait to have Sonic again!! They have my favorite fast food burgers, and grilled cheese. And I agree with Sidnie…their ice is the best!!

For that matter I can’t wait to have IHOP! I love their omlets and they come with pancakes too…yummmm! I have great memories of IHOP as a kid. We always ate breakfast there when we vacationed in Florida. The belgian waffle was my breakfast of choice! :)

That’s fun, Jordan! We used to get at Shoney’s breakfast bar on Saturday mornings when I was little.

I def want to take my kids to IHOP before the end of the month.
One of my fav places to take my kids is Chick-Fil-A. It is so family/mom/kid friendly.

I also love taking them out for ice cream. :-)
