It’s a Big Day for Me

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Beginning today, I am going to be teaching a six-week parenting class to the spouses of our Task Force. It is based on the book, “Making Children Mind Without Losing Yours” by Dr. Kevin Leman.

The book is based on a passage in Ephesians

“Children obey your parents; this is the right thing to do because God has placed them in authority over you. Honor your father and mother. This is the first of God’s Ten Commandments that ends with a promise. And this is the promise: that if you honor your father and mother, yours will be a long life, full of blessing.

And now a word to you parents. Don’t keep on scolding and nagging your children, making them angry and resentful. Rather bring them up wiht the loving discipline the Lord himself approves, with suggestions and godly advice.”
Ephesians 6:1-4

I am both very excited and nervous about this opportunity to share my love for parenting with loving discipline and my passion to teach women, especially those in our unit’s families, to be better wives and mothers. So nervous, that I have been sick to my stomach and lost about five pounds this week! But I’m not complaining about that…it’s a great jumpstart to getting to my goal weight beore Keith comes home!

Believe me, I am no where close to a perfect parent, but I have a desire to be better and to continually grow into becoming the parent that God would have me to be.

Also, Keith will be coming home to visit soon after this class ends….it’s a perfect way to keep me busy waiting on him!

I really believe that big things can happen for our families during this time.

I would greatly appreciate your prayers over the next six weeks!

I will definitely say some prayers for you – I wish I could be there to take the class – I think I need it. Alena has been crying & whining so much the past two days I think something must be wrong but she says she isn’t ill – but I really am about to lose my mind. I try just talking to her, but she keeps going and I don’t want to lose it – but I have been so close a few times. You will do great!!! (but say a prayer for my sanity).

What a wonderful opportunity! My parenting skills have been seriously challenged lately with rambunctious boys. Seriously, I started crying the other day in the B commissary. I had had it! It wasn’t pretty~~~Hopefully nobody I knew saw me :( . Ugh.
