We finished a unit on God’s Beautiful World and Creation on Sunday. Our Family Sunday School lesson this past week was about how Adam took care of God’s world and God wants us to take care of His world as well.
Our verse for the week was “Look at the wonderful things God made” Job 37:14.
During our lesson, the girls spent some time coloring and decorating their own “litter bags” made out of paper lunch sacks.
And then we all headed outside to pick up trash around our building.
They got very good at pointing out litter on the ground. And it didn’t take them long at all to fill their litter bags.
Keith helped them put their bags in the dumpsters.
Again today, in our Bible lesson, we talked about God’s creation and ways that we can take care of His creation. One way is to avoid littering ourselves and take actions to pick up litter when we see it.
I pray that this will be a lifelong lesson for my girls. We all too often take care of our world and God’s wonderful creation for granted. It doesn’t take much for all of us to take moments to pick up after ourselves to prevent litter and pollution.
Taking care of God’s creation by picking up litter works for us!

cute idea!!! I keep meaning to take bags with us when we go to our local park – there is always a lot of trash around and AG is always pointing it out. Thanks for the extra motivation to get on that. 😉

what a great idea, as we live in the city we get a lot of litter in our yard. The Girl loves to help pick it up and throw it away to “save our plants.”

This is a wonderful idea. What a great thing to train your children to do… to have them always looking for ways they themselves can help in taking care of God’s earth. It is something I’ve always appreciated about my husband, he always is picking up litter when he sees it and throwing it away.

I think that is a very important lesson! I make my kids pick up things that I see~unfortunately there is so much trash around that base! I hope the new commander makes people pick up after themselves! Really..sheesh.
My kids have even asked me, “Mom, do we have to go pick up the trash/rubbish?” 😀 as we walk by the park.

That is a great activity! I try to pick up trash when I see it as well because of James 4:17: the idea that sin is also be not doing good I know I’m supposed to do, and picking up a bit of trash I notice is something I know I should do.
Keep up the great work!
