There is nothing better than a clean organized home. But with three small children running around playing all day, it’s hard to stay ahead of the clutter and mess. The one thing that can make a huge difference in the way I feel about how my home looks (at least the bedrooms) is having the beds made.
I like to make my bed as soon as I can after waking up. It’s usually done while I am doing my hair and make up. (yes, I do my hair and make-up every.single.day) I can have piles of laundry waiting to be done but the room looks so much cleaner when the bed is made.
I do the same with EA and MC’s room. I try to get their beds made as soon as I can after they wake up. A perfect day starts with me making their beds as soon as I walk into their rooms in the morning. Well, after greeting them, of course. They can have toys all over the floor and but the room just looks much cleaner if the bed is made.
Having this one chore done reduces me stress level, too. When I walk into a room with an unmade bed, I can immediately feel myself tense up because of the room’s messiness. And after the bed is made, I immediately feel myself relax, even if just a little bit.
While living life as a mom of three small children and the wife of a deployed soldier, little things can make a huge difference in my day and my outlook. Having a made bed is one of those things….it just works for me.

I love having a made bed early in the day too.
Your daughters’ room is adorable and your children are adorable. You have a good life.

I am really weird in that I can not sleep in a bed that hasn’t been made up first. Many times we watch TV in bed at night and my hubby gets the sheets and comforter all messed up so when he gets up to go to the bathroom, I have to straighten the bed out or I can’t go to sleep. I was always brought up to make the bed in the morning because you never know who might come over to your house and see a messy bed (I think that is in the same category as wear clean underwear in case you get in an accident! lol).

I am so proud of you that you do your hair and makeup everyday. For me, looking done is what helps me make it through the day.

I so agree with this! My husband is disabled and is still in bed when I leave for work. When I get home, if I discover he has not made the bed, I have to do it right then before I make dinner or do anything else. I do have to give him credit, he makes the bed about 70% of the time now. I think he does it so I will start dinner sooner!
Also, I totally agree with putting on your makeup and doing your hair every day. Even if you are not going somewhere, your family deserves to see you looking your best. After all, who is more important than family?
Besides, it makes you feel good about YOU and we all need that!

I TOTALLY agree. We make our beds as soon as we can in the morning - I absolutely CANNOT get into an unmade bed at night… and it calms me down so much to see my bed made whenever I walk by my room. YEAH!

I make my bed twice a week, whether it needs it or not. That’s because I wash the sheets twice a week.

The pics I’ve seen of your house are so cute. I love it! This is a great tip. I agree it looks SO MUCH NICER when the bed is made. I however am not that good about doing it. I will try to make more of an effort. And to Randall who commented above me… WOW… washing her sheets twice a week. I am SO IMPRESSED!! I don’t even wash them twice a month.
