This weekend Keith and I tried somethin we’ve never done before with the girls during their nap time.
I really needed for them to have a decent quiet time and napping was pretty much out of the question. Or maybe I should say that I really needed the quiet time and that wasn’t going to happen unless they were quiet.
So, as he often does, my husband had a brilliant idea!
He brought out a projector that he took with him down range.
It is a Zoom projector that he actually bought when we were living at Ft. Campbell. We watched seasons 3-6 of 24 with that projector when I was pregnant with Will.
On Sunday nights, we would go into our guest room and watch 24 on the big screen of the opposing wall.
This Sunday afternoon, EA and MC watched Scooby-Doo with the projector aimed at the blank wall of their closet doors. And they absolutely LOVED it!!
The two of them curled up in EA’s bed underneath their quilts. Keith and I peeked in on them several times and they were just so cute watching their “movie” together.
And they even had fun with the “scary” parts of the cartoon….when a ghost or monster appeared they would giggle and “hide” by throwing the quilt over their heads.
I had my quiet time because movies in bed for my girls worked for me! It’s something that we’ll keep in our back pockets for special nap times. And who knows….maybe next time we’ll throw in some popcorn to go along with their movie.

What a fun idea! Getting to have a quiet time on a day like that would definitely work for me too!! 🙂

This is one of the reasons I don’t let our kids watch TV much during the day. I need this type of back-up plan available when I’ve had enough and just need a few minutes to re-center and re-focus. Our friends have a projector like that. It might be great for a movie-themed birthday party or something!
